I tried applying for my first credit card with the bank Chase and wasn't approved. I applied for a Chase Freedom Master card. The letter I received said that I had no information in the credit bureau. I understand that I don't have any credit information because I've never had a credit card before to build my credit score, but how am I expected to do so if I can't get one to begin with?
well jimmy, I've added all my details. I haven't missed a single thing. The letter said "The reason(s) why you did not score well compared with our other approved applicants were: No information in credit bureau" so apparently that is all the reason they need not to approve me.
I am 19 me and me girlfriend are going to get married and we want to get a house we both work full time I make about about 15000 and she makes 25000 annually we also want her mom to move in who gets around 12000 a year and with help with the mortgage. My girlfriend has bad credit because of not having medical insurance so has medical bills and the city she lived in left her utilities on in old addresses for years 6 in one location so she has thousands owed to utilities and her mom is in the same boat. I currently am also a full time college student I work very hard as does my girlfriend and I want us to be able to get a house. On paper I make so little but I only have good credit with my car payment which has been paid on time for the 10 month lifespan of the loan which is 2 years (totaling $2500) although I am saving up and will have it paid off by February though and the only other thing on my credit is my student loans ( totaling $8250)which i am also in good standing with, I know all of this because I checked my credit report but not my credit score because it costs money and I don't have a credit card also though I have applied for a discover card and was declined the only other checks on my credit were twice when I was looking for a car and my bank twice trying to get credit over draft protection and my car loan a have a co-signer. I am no longer living with my parent but the rent isn't in my name all the bills are though but only since July this year. The house market where I live we could get a nice house for about 50,000 we wouldn't be able to make a big down payment but want to take out only a ten year loan and could afford an interest rate up to 9%. We have heard the are going to extend the 8,000 first time home buyer tax return till April next year which would be nice for paying off the home early but we would definitely like be in a home before next summer and 8K would be nice too but what things I should do to try to get this accomplished. Would getting a credit card with an annual fee and always paying the balance be a good idea because I thought the cards you have to pay to have are a scam or didn't report to the credit bureaus; and how do I get pre-approve and would this be a good idea at this point or would it be a waist of my time and make my score worse?
Previously, I had absolutely no debt, paid my credits card off each month, owned my cars and home (no mortgage). I found a new home at a great price pulled money out of my investment account for the down payment and took out a mortgage for the rest, and now trying to sell my original home. I was sure this would hurt my credit rating, but with the mortgage it IMPROVED my rating by 10 points!! I certainly am stressed out now because I just got laid off from my job last week, and feel I have screwed myself by putting myself in a position to have to pay a mortgage with no job.
But my question is why does having a mortgage INCREASE your credit rating? I use Experian to monitor my credit score.
My husband and I live in houston, and we are looking into buying a home. The details are that we are looking for a home that is in the price range of 90-105k, we are butting at least 30%-40% as a downpayment, and his credit score is 701, and mines is 726... My main concern is that I am 19, and not really very familiar with home buying. It makes it harder that he is in the US Army, and Im doing everything alone. So where do I start? Do I look for a home first? Do I apply for a loan first? What Banks would you guys reccomend? I know some have fees that others dont.... I tried to look things up online, but I would really like advise from someone who has been or is in my situation... Thank you guys very much!
What is the minimum acceptable credit score when applying for a job where the employer checks your credit?
Ive been getting lower grades on my Math quarterlies, as one step keeps bumping me down. I used to get straight 100's, then. I at first kept getting 100's, but then I got an 88 as a result of a horrible... horrible.... scantron.(Don't ask, Idk y, but I always score very low on scantron tests)
Many opinions are that
A) Extra credit is "basically saying "I want to you to work harder so that I get get a higher grade" to the teacher.
B) Only students who actually care ask for extra credit, and the fact that you asked means that you actually care
C)Extra credit should only be offered to those whom are failing,
I am a single mom with a teenager currently in college. I recently lost my job and living on unemployment which runs out in 6 weeks. I also am currently going back to college and am taking 4 classes per semester. I am already getting pell grants that are covering my books and tuition. I have taken out the max in student loan from Sallie Mae for living expenses which is only $3500 per semester. Every employer I have interviewed with tells me come back when you have your degree. Well I won't have a house or a car to drive if I keep going to school and don't have a job!! I do not own my home so I have no collateral and thanks to my oh so loving ex husband, my credit score is down to 515 and until I pay off the debt he racked up, my credit score will not budge. I am in some serious need of some kind of guidance if anyone has any. Seems all the "free gov't money for single moms" that I have looked at are all scams!
Sallie Mae and my bank would give me a private loan if I had a good co-signer. Don't have that either.
Thanks for you time!
If "shopping" queries for car loans within a two-week period of time are assessed as only one hit, how do I know the credit reporting companies are adding up my hits correctly? Isn't possible that errors are being made? How do I count up my own hits and know how my credit score is determined? Thank you!
i have a very low credit score of 541. I also have a lot of collections on my credit report. no credit cards, loans or any thing like that. i was young and not realizing what i was doing to my credit. besides the medical bill (had no insurance) i could maybe pay the rest off in a few years? i dont know what to do. i feel like im a failure and never going to have anything in life. there are so many different collection agency's on there i dont know if i could keep up with paying them all or what goes where, and when. should i consolidate or what. is it too late? please help if you can

I'm trying to get into the University of Washington, this is my senior year and i'm freaking out because i don't know what school would accept scores this low, even though they said
"We in the Office of Admissions caution students and their families against placing too much emphasis on standardized tests. Taking either test more than twice is probably a waste of time and moneya as well as a source of unnecessary stress."
The priority deadline for the application is december 1 and the next SAT is december 5 or if i'm lucky enough to get the standby for november 7th.
I have over 3000 minutes in community service, I was keyclub historian and secretary, i take college courses for highschool, National Honor Society, Japanese club, i have fulfilled all graduation requirements, i have 9 extra highschool credits, and i participated in sports. I feel like everything i've worked for is useless now because of my SAT score.
...holy crap did anyone see Inter-Palermo??
What a crazy game. Inter were up 4-0 at half-time, then as soon as the second half started Palermo pulled one back and within 15 minutes scored two more goals throwing the game wide open. Thankfully Inter regrouped and scored another goal to kill the nerves and the game at 5-3.
Credit to Walter Zenga and Palermo who were more motivated and played a hell of a lot better after being down 4 goals, rather than give up on the game. And this proves every minute of football counts, never say its over until its over.
Here are my GOOD stats:
* 26 yrs old attractive female, divorced (military marriage) no kids, single
* 3 yrs Navy Reserves, 1 year active duty as a mil police. Want to become an officer.
* 6 months I will have an Associates in GS.
* 9,500 tax free money in savings (military)
*VA benefits for life
* 20 months new GIB to use
BAD stats:
* no kids (desirably want to have a family in next couple years)
*bankruptcy/foreclosure (started young being an adult, learned from my mistakes)
*720 credit score is now a 535
*unfinished degree. want to get my bachelors in next 2 years
*aging parent
I'm currently deployed overseas. my question is should take time from school to come back overseas as a contractor and save $100,000 to set myself up, or should I go home use the gibe bill and go to school (don't work) until I get my bachelors and go from there? If I do it this way, the latter I may meet someone
The most important things to me are family, then money, then travel, a decent car. that just my nature. I want to spend time with my aging parent, maybe have some kids but I can't really do that and be a contractor. At the same time I know I have to live life for me.
Someday I want to get my masters, say I worked hard, influenced lots of people and made a difference. I'll spare you the noble speech. I just wanna be successful.
Hello,Im trying to get a loan from my credit union so that I can buy a motorcycle.I plan to use it as commuting to and from work/school.The bike costs $3500.The problem is,is that I have no credit.I have been a member of this credit union since I was a child, but recently got a job.I know it's going to be a stable job because as time are, everyone will need security, plus my mom is my boss :p.Is there a way that my credit union could fund me and I can use the bike as collateral? if not, I have a step father who might co-sign for me(might have to break him off $200 from my paycheck). He has a score of 640+,but I would like to do this on my own. Please help.

Hi,
Currently I am staying at an apartment where I have signed the lease and I am going to sign a lease in a different apartment community where I am going to move after the end of the lease.
Would it be ok if I have lease in 2 different communities ? Would it create any problem for me legally or will it effect my credit score in anyway ?
I was wondering if I have a continuing lease then the other community will not approve my lease by checking my credits because I am already holding a lease in other community at the time of signing that other lease
Please advice.
Thanks
Recruiter told me to come in today to take my PreAsvab. I scored a 48 and was all set to take the actual test Friday. I then spoke to him about being able to take it Monday (which would allow me a few more days to ensure I would get a 50 on the actual one) which he said it would be fine, but I decided to call him a little after I left to come back and fill out the paper work so I could just take It tomorrow. This Is when he found out that It actually closed past Monday for accepting recruits with g.e.d's. Obviously this was rather frustrating to hear, and he told me either get 15 college credits otherwise I might have to wait till this upcoming summer. I then decided to call 2 other Recruiters Offices in the area, and they both told me I should call back every 2 weeks, as there is a good chance each month they will accept in recruits who have their g.e.d (very limited though, obviously). Now I'm not sure what to believe as 1 Recruiter gave me a different answer then the other 2. So my question is basically, how often do they open the gates for g.e.d holders?
Well I guess to add this then, Incase I do not have a strong chance of being able to retry every month or so. What other options are there getting when you already having a g.e.d? I know about 15 college credits, but is it possible to finish my high school credits, or to even do the army's g.e.d program? I am determined to get In no matter what It takes.
Hello all! I am currently a student at Stony Brook University. I am planning to transfer to NYU or Columbia. I am wondering if i have the credentials to make it. I came to Stony Brook out of high school with a 3.2 GPA and a low SAT score of 1140. Once at Stony Brook University i maintained a 3.5 GPA and am currently a junior even though i am only in my second year of college (i went through a wall street summer program which bumped up my credits). I participate in 9 different clubs/organizations on campus including 3 honor societies, i work for the dean of students and am a double major (economics and business management) i am applying to NYU and Columbia as a transfer. Do you think i could get in? Or should i not even try? I am transferring because i have an intense interest in the economics field and at my current college economics is not a strong major. Thank you!
I have a Zero Balance. This account has a 4,000 credit limit.
I need to close this account due to a new annual fee that was just added to my card which used to be a no annual fee card and this is my only reason for closing. I just need as many tips as I can before I press the YES button on the account.
My main goal is to not lose too many points on my credit score.
This card I want to cancel is from 2006.
My oldest card is from 2003 with less available credit.
Any tips would be helpful.
I am confused.
Thanks
Hi Baby Due,
I tried my hardest to have the fees waived...) : They won't budge an inch.
I would pay fees if this card was my favorite, but I don't even use it as much as I used to. Maybe just a couple of times a month or less.
timothy..my other cards are paid off...
Will my score suffer badly?
p.s. I asked you in your send e-mail so that you can answer this ( :
Hi I want to buy a new used car. I try 2 different dealership and on 1 of the dealership they put my credit. Credit is over 700 but im scared if I try the other dealership my credit will drop. I dont know if it will, it is my first time buying a car.I just dont want to keep going to different dealership and them having to check it. Any help, thank you
What are the best ways to increase my credit limit? Not my credit score. I want ideas of things to do. I know getting loans are a huge impact but i don't need any loans so there is no point in getting myself caught up in that. Can leasing a car get it higher? Or anything else? Any ideas please. And i always pay my credit card on time - never a late payment. i don't need ideas like that. Thanks =]
i have 2 credit cards and pay my payments in full every time. in those two years one credit card increased my limit. i don't want to ask for it because i've heard that brings down my credit score which is something i rather not do.
i had a ccj for a unpaid tax bill its being removed 25 nov 09 i was wondering if my score will rise much as of 23 nov 2009 it was 725out of (999)(fair rated)??????????HELP PLEASE???????????thanks
Ok. Im not that savy on credit. The only thing I really know for sure is the rule of thumb: pay your bills on time. I currently have an old cell phone company on my credit and I owe them money. Im no longer with this company and intend on paying them back. Its been over a year since they reported my account as delinquent. I have a few friends who inform me that paying off the account wont help my credit at all anyway. So I shouldnt even bother paying it. Is this true? And what is considered a good score, a bad score, and a average score?
My wife and I went to buy a car, we tracked our score at freecredit report.com and we both had between 670-690... when we applied at the dealership they come back and show us we both have between 550-575.
i dont get why its not the same and where freecreditreport.com is getting those numbers anyone else have this problem or know what the scoop is? thanks!
im almost complete with cleaning up my credit file now i just need my score how do i get that from all three bureaus free
Is there anywhere I can see my credit score, not report, for free?
I've already used my free yearly credit report from anuallcreditreport, now I just want to know what my credit score is.
Thank you!
NOT report, just score. preferably free.
what is the web address for free credit scores? and what are the links to it.
I went to annualcredteport but I can't get my actual score. It tells me to go to another site for my score but wants $12.95 for it. Aren't we entitled to our score as well as our history? Experian was the only one I could get info from immediately. I was able to print out my history from their site. Equifax and Transunion will mall it but I still can't get my score. Any ideas??
I'm not looking for a free annual credit report, but a credit score. Is there a car dealership, mortgage company, etc. that can run my credit online and give me my credit score? And i'm not worried about one or two companies lowering my credit score by checking my credit.
Is there a way to get a free credit score? I heard everyones entitled to one free score, state by state?
Which can be trusted and secure since I will be ordering on line? I would like one of the free reports if possible. Has anyone ever tried this?
I am 54 and lost my job 7 mos ago, my partner's company went bankrupt a month later. We have run through most of our savings except for about 50K we have invested in a business that is breaking even right now but not really making any money. I have about 130K in my 401K and my house is about 100K underwater. I have it listed for a short sale but the new houses that are being currently built in my neighborhood are selling first. I have a 7% interest rate. We have moved out of the house and are now living in my friends guest house to save money on cable and utilities, etc. My mortgage is $2100. We are now living off of unemployment and do not have any jobs in the foreseeable future although we are very actively trying to find some.
I have about an 800 credit score. This is really bothering me not to pay my mortgage, but I don't know what else to do. Do I risk my retirement years and business to pay this? Rental prices are so low I would lose about $1200 a month.

If so,how do i do it?
Where do I go to get a free online credit score rating if I already take my credit report?
i got my credit report but i don't have a score. any help would be greatly appreciated
I have a secured credit card with a low balance of $200. This is my only credit card right now. I want a card with a higher balance to improve my credit score. I hardly ever use credit, so I was thinking I increase the balance and maintain a good debt to credit ratio. The catch is, I'd have to send in a deposit check for the secured card in order to receive the increase (basically buying the credit limit increase). I feel like because my credit score is relatively low, I don't have much options. It is slowly improving and I don't want to risk adding inquiries to it by applying for unsecured cards (and possibly get rejected). The only other option would be to get another secured card and have two cards. I was thinking of possibly adding something like $1000-1800 to the card I have now, increasing the limit to $2000. My FICO score is 601, I believe.
So the two options:
-Keep one card, and go from a $200 to $2000 limit.
-Have two cards, one with a $200 limit and one with an $1800.
They'd both be secured with relatively good terms (apr and penalty-wise).
Which is better in terms of improving my credit?
Thanks 'ConfusednOHIO'! Now that I know FICO prefers variety, I'll do exactly what you said, add to the smaller account and open a second one.
